Sandhill Cranes

This morning Sam and I, Mom and Darwin all went to breakfast and then out to Rowe Sanctuary to pick up Kris who had spent the night in a photographer's blind on the Platte River.  On the way we passed by fields of happy Cranes.  And while at the Sanctuary I saw a variety of birds.

 Tree Swallow

I believe these are Northern Flickers.

American Goldfinch on the bird-feeder at Rowe Sanctuary

I think this is a House Finch.

Harris's Sparrow

Female Red-winged Blackbird

On our way home about a mile away from the Rowe Sanctuary we noticed a cow lying down in a ditch.  As we drove by Sam and Kris noticed that it had just calved.  We saw the farmer in his tractor in the field and Kris went out to tell him.  It's hard to tell but if you blow up the photo, the farmer is laughing.
