It's hard to believe that it's October 30th and the weather is so nice that I took off my sweatshirt while walking around the lake today. I keep trying to get a shot of Coot feet, however, these guys are pretty skiddish around people. There were also still some pretty little wild flowers in bloom, clover and I don't know what the other is.

Henry Doorly Zoo
I went to the zoo in Omaha today with Kris. It was a beautiful day for photography.
The first 5 photos were taken in the Rain Forest.
The next 9 photos were taken in the Butterfly Pavilion.
This is the blue butterfly with his wings closed.
These last photos were taken in and around the Aviary.
These Lemurs were hilarious to watch. This guy looked like he was sunbathing.
I think this is a Mandarin Duck.

Week-end with Mary Jo
Jack left for a week in Mexico and so Mary Jo and I have spent the week-end together sewing, walking, and just having fun. On Saturday we walked for 2 hours, visited their old neighborhood and just enjoyed the beauty of fall. Max was quite happy that we were so energetic! Today we went to her school and cut some fabric for a project her students will start, walked to the nearby quilt shop, got hungry and stopped for lunch at 3 =). It's been fun not having to follow a schedule or worry about people relying on us for their nourishment. We've just sewed and played and eaten when we wanted!
This little guy was walking with his dad and wanted me to take his picture then put his hands up to hide.
This is some kind of fungus growing on a tree.
This morning glory is in Jack and Mary Jo's neighbors yard. I love how it looks like light is coming from the center of the flower.

Sunday at the Lake
It was another beautiful Sunday and Sam and I enjoyed another walk around Holmes Lake.
This is a Grebe, I think. They dive down under the water, so it's hard to get a good shot of them. Most of my photos are of the water rings where they dove under.
I really like this photo, the way the Grebe is silhouetted against the sparkling gray water.
Check out the colors on this rock.
There are still flowers in bloom!
