Various Shots

One day after school I drove to a field of sunflowers.  Unfortunately these flowers must not have known that they were supposed to face the sun, so I didn't get a good shot of the field.  Oh well, I also didn't get a good shot of the hummingbirds who migrated through this month.

After looking at my blog today (Saturday, Oct. 1) I realized that I had posted here a photo that I previously posted.  I didn't mean to do that, the photo above is the one I had intended to post.

I really liked the way the sun only lit up part of the forest floor.  These shots were from the weekend with Cait.

Sunken Gardens Again

I think these guys look like little orchids.  They are very tiny.

More Mountain Shots

A few more photos from the weekend.  Caitlin and I drove up to Brooklyn Lake Sunday afternoon and hiked up above the lake.  The view was wonderful and when we reached the top there was another lake.

These next 3 shots are of the lake above Brooklyn Lake.  The dot in the sky is the moon!

This photo is a view of Brooklyn Lake as we walked back down the trail.

After our hike we drove on this little road that was full of puddles, some as wide as the road, but the views were fantastic.

Later that afternoon a couple of Cait's friends came up and we drove to Libby Creek Lookout.  We could see for miles.

On the way home Monday, Sam and I stopped at Rowe Sanctuary to inquire about the fall migration of the Sandhill Cranes.  We took a little walk along the river and saw this unusual dragonfly.

Weekend with Caitlin

Sam and I drove out to Laramie on Friday, picked up Caitlin, and headed to the mountains!  We stayed outside of Centennial, WY in a little cabin on Brooklyn Lake Road.  We took a little walk Friday evening and came upon the lake pictured below.  We were amazed at the variety of wildflowers still in bloom, especially since it was dropping down to freezing during the nights.

It rained most of Saturday but there were some moments of sunshine.  The pictures above were taken just behind our cabin at one of those moments when the sun broke through.

We drove down the road and visited Mirror Lake, which was quite beautiful in the rain, fog, and snow!

On Sunday morning I woke up early and took a walk.  The sky was clear and blue and the photo above as well as the one below are from that walk.  I'll post more later on.

I think this is a Gray Jay.

Busy Bee

Check out the pollen on the bee's knees =)!

Where the Wild Things Grow

After breakfast with Kris, I drove back past the lake to see if I could see the Wood Duck that is supposed to be there.  Didn't see him, but the weeds around the lake were beautiful and there wasn't any wind to speak of.

Beautiful Labor Day Morning at the Lake

Kris and I went for a walk around Holmes Lake this morning.  The fog rising off the lake was amazing!  I erased the power lines and poles from the sky of some of the shots, I think that makes them more pleasing to view.

Butterflies & A Dragonfly

This poor Monarch didn't have much color any more.  I think he's old.
