Saturday was Sam's birthday and I gave him a new pair of binoculars. The weather was so beautiful in the afternoon that we walked around the lake, Sam with his binoculars and me with my camera. There were so many interesting things to see I think it took us 3 hours to get around the lake!
Sam's new binoculars are made by Canon, the camera company, and they are super sharp. Here he is looking at bullfrogs =).
This couple are some friends from our church but I didn't realize that until we saw them driving away from the lake and I recognized him.
And then we saw lots of wildflowers...
...lots of birds too!
Ruffled-feathered Meadowlark
Not sure what this bird is, he's tiny and was singing a lot
A Barn Swallow who stayed for quite awhile preening himself at the edge of the lake
Western Kingbird
Eastern Kingbird

We also saw lots of other things like enormous bullfrogs, turtles sticking their heads out of the water, Baltimore Orioles and a bird I've never seen before and can't seem to find him in my book. Hopefully I'll see him again and get a good shot of him.
